From the blog:
"KidRex is a fun and safe search for kids, by kids! KidRex searches emphasize kid-related webpages from across the entire web and are powered by Google Custom Search™ and use Google SafeSearch™ technology.

Google's SafeSearch™ screens for sites that contain explicit sexual content and deletes them from your child’s search results. Google's filter uses advanced technology to check keywords, phrases, and URLs. No filter is 100 percent accurate, but SafeSearch™ should eliminate most inappropriate material."

Augmented Reality Game for Special Educators

CipherCities

Check out this augmented reality game played from the lobby of the Crowne Royal Plaza in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. Using the text messaging capabilities from your cell phone, this game leads you through the lobby looking for a friend with a physical disability. Passing through a series of challenges, you will document your experience by taking digital photos. At the end of your experience you'll use your photos to create a digital portfolio in the form of a PowerPoint presentation documenting and reflecting on what you have learned.

If done at your school, this activity will be a great introduction to universal access and your school campus.

FreeMind Mind Mapping Software

I use FreeMind to organize my reading and communicate large amounts of information.  Here's a tutorial on the basics for FreeMind, as well as some uses for special education faculty:

VoiceThread for Online Teaching

VoiceThread (VT) can be a great tool to build presence in online courses.  You post visual images online and your students choose 5 methods for commenting (text, audio file, video, drawing, and telephone).  Check out my tutorial on VoiceThread and its uses for online teacher preparation in special education.
